Beaches of Vieques
Vieques has an incredible variety of 170+ secluded beaches to explore. The majority of our stunning beaches are located in the completely undeveloped National Wildlife Refuges on the western and eastern ends of the island. Several Vieques beaches are consistently ranked among the top in the Caribbean and the world, including Playa La Chiva, Playa Caracas, and our unique black sand beach, Playa Negra.
Bioluminescent Bay
Explore the world’s brightest bioluminescent bay and prepare to be mesmerized as you step into a world of natural magic and wonder! Vieques’ biobay has been recognized as the world’s brightest by Guinness World Records and as one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ by Conde Nast Traveller. It is best to visit the bay during nights with a new or crescent moon for the most brilliant glow.

Vieques is a hub for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine and our own neighborhood of Isabel II is home to the largest variety of restaurants, bars, fish markets, and local panaderias on the island. Within several blocks are more than a dozen options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, or the ingredients for a beach picnic. Amistad also offers a fully equipped common kitchen for guest use so you can self-cater or prep your cooler for a day of beach hopping.

Vieques waters are home to an incredible five species of sea turtles, manta rays, eagle rays, angel fish, parrot fish, butterfly fish, and much more.
