Twenty years ago, we were New Yorkers and avid travelers. In an effort to always discover new places, cultures, and friends, we had one rule when traveling: never return to the same destination twice.
Until we discovered Vieques and Casa de Amistad.
We became regular guests at Casa de Amistad for 15 years. Amistad captured our hearts and continued to draw us back until we ultimately took over the guesthouse from former owners Owen and Dan when they retired in 2018. Just as they had from the original family 20 years earlier.
Today, Casa de Amistad is a cozy, eco-friendly, 8-room guesthouse that has been gay-owned and -operated for more than 25 years. We are proud to carry on Amistad’s long tradition of a warm welcome for all guests.

We love our “downtown” location in the heart of Vieques’s capital, Isabel II (pronounced Isabel Segunda). Isabel II is not an artificial resort town. It is an authentic Puerto Rican pueblo with wonderful local culture, food, and character.
When you’re at Amistad, you feel truly away, but when you step outside our doors, you’re immersed in the island’s vibrant local culture. Amistad is within a few minutes’ walk of the ferry terminal, restaurants, bars, shops, grocery stores, and — of course — the beach!
Most of our guests spend their days beach hopping amongst the 170+ undeveloped beaches in the wildlife refuges on the western and eastern ends of the island. Then in the evening, they return to Amistad where the best of Isabel II is on your doorstep.
